Individual Support

Research has consistently shown that the form of counselling a person receives is generally less important than the strength of the working relationship between client and counsellor. As such, all of my therapeutic interventions are underpinned by the core conditions of person centred counselling, with a focus on collaborative working to meet your goals. However, if mutually agreeable, I am happy to work with CBT, EMDR, SFBT or a combination of the above approaches.

I am experienced in providing both telephone and online video counselling, and am currently working exclusively via these mediums.

I am a Registered and Accredited Member of BACP (MBACP). I am also approved by various insurance providers and work closely as an associate counsellor with a number of Employee Assistance Programs (EAP's)

My Private Practice fees are £75 per session. My sessions last for one hour and typically take place weekly or fortnightly, though this is negotiable dependent upon your needs.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
With a strong research grounding, CBT is one of the most common forms of therapy available through the NHS and other typical referral routes. It focuses on identifying patterns of thoughts and behaviour which impact on a persons mood. This allows the client and therapist to begin to interrupt negative thought patterns or change unhelpful behaviours, resulting in a change in mood and circumstance. For more information see here.

Looking for general information about counselling? The BACP  provide information about the benefits of counselling and hold a register of accredited therapists, of which I am a member.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is a powerful therapy designed to help people recover from traumatic events in their lives. It involves the use of bi-lateral stimulation, typically in the form of the client following finger movements by the therapist alongside the processing of old memories.
EMDR is recognised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). You can learn more about EMDR here.

Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
An increasingly popular alternative to traditional problem-focused therapies, SFBT helps an individual to identify positive experiences and refocus attention from the often overwhelmingly negative mindset many people enter therapy with. SFBT can be particularly helpful when feeling in a "rut" or when previous attempts to tackle an issue have not worked. Read more about SFBT here.
Counselling contract
As part of your first session, we will complete a counselling contract, which will detail what you can expect from the counselling process. This will include GDPR, confidentiality, information I require from you to practice safely and practicalities such as payment methods and the regularity of sessions.

Cancellation policy
An integral part of effective counselling is the commitment by both therapist and client to the process. This includes attending all arranged sessions at the relevant time. If you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment for any reason, please ensure you give me at least 48 hours notice prior to the session time.
Missed sessions, or cancellations within this 48 hour period will still incur the full fee, which will need to be paid in full before the next session takes place.

In order to rearrange or cancel an appointment, please contact me via the phone or email details below
